Shaping AI policies for assessment in education

ASSAI brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of universities, research centres, public authorities, and industry leaders from across Europe to tackle one of the most pressing challenges facing education systems today:

How to use the potential of generative AI for assessment in a way that is responsible, trustworthy, and aligned with European values.

Our mission

Generative AI is transforming education

GenAI is rapidly transforming how knowledge is created, evaluated, and certified. While AI tools are already widely used, their systemic impact on education systems, including roles, practices, and governance, remains uncertain.

Assessment is central to trust

Now classified as a high-risk area under the European AI Act, the use of AI in assessment raises critical questions around quality, fairness, integrity, and accountability.

Guidance for responsible use is essential

We address this gap by providing policy guidance for education stakeholders on how GenAI can be used for assessment in a responsible and trustworthy way aligned with European values.
